Hall of Famer
Dustin Cook
Dustin Cook is a celebrated Canadian alpine skier known for his remarkable achievements and inspirational impact on the ski community. He first gained international recognition after placing ninth at the Junior World Ski Championships in 2009.
His standout season came in 2015, when he made headlines as an underdog by winning the silver medal in the super-G at the FIS World Championships in Beaver Creek. That same year, he claimed gold in the World Cup super-G at Méribel and bronze at Kvitfjell, firmly establishing himself among the world’s elite. Cook also represented Canada at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, finishing ninth in the super-G.
Over his career, Cook started 87 World Cup races, secured 27 FIS career wins, and stood on 72 FIS podiums. His success inspired young athletes nationwide, proving that dedication and self-belief can lead to world-class results.
Growing up skiing at Mont Ste-Marie in Quebec, Cook’s achievements motivated his home community to invest in the next generation. This led to the creation of the Dustin Cook Training Center, featuring upgraded slopes, facilities, and snowmaking systems. The centre now hosts major events and serves as a training ground for national, provincial, and regional teams.
Despite his international success, Cook has remained deeply connected to Mont Ste-Marie. He frequently returns to mentor young athletes, joining training sessions and sharing his experiences both during the ski season and in the off-season through activities like mountain biking. He is also known for generously supporting up-and-coming racers, offering “hand-me-down” equipment to those in need.
Cook’s legacy extends beyond his own career. He helped establish the MSM World Cup Athlete Development Fund, which provides annual bursaries to promising FIS-level athletes from Mont Ste-Marie, easing their path from club programs to the national team. As a founding member and ongoing committee participant, Cook continues to play a vital role in nurturing future Canadian ski champions.
