Sarah Burke, Devon Kershaw headline the 2023 Canadian Ski Hall of Fame class

A total of 10 snowsports legends will be officially inducted to the Mackenzie Investments Canadian Ski Hall of Fame during a live induction ceremony held in Montreal on Friday November 17, 2023.

Sarah Burke, a five-time X Games gold medallist and world champion from 2005 in halfpipe, is considered one of the greatest pioneers in the history of Canadian snowsports; her popularity and influence transcending winter sports, while defining and elevating the role of women in snowsports. Burke was also an activist, philanthropist and pioneer and was considered a medal favourite in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games but died following a training accident in Utah in 2012.

Skier Devon Kershaw – who was at the forefront of a “golden age” for cross country ski racing in Canada when he led a group that would win and compete with the world’s best skiers on a regular basis – was also inducted. Alongside his long-time teammate Alex Harvey, Devon ranks as one of the most successful Canadian cross country ski racers of all time.

Kershaw and Burke are joined by four builders and four coaches in the hall of fame induction class which featured five from the Nordic disciplines.

“This year’s class is an incredible group of athletes, builders and coaches who have made tremendous impact on snowsports in Canada,” said Erik Austin, CSHFM Chairman. “On behalf of our entire team, I offer a huge congratulations to these 10 individuals and welcome them to the Mackenzie Investments Canadian Ski Hall of Fame.”
