It was not until after his graduation from McGill University that Harry Pangman started to ski competitively winning his first Quebec 18 km cross-country ski race in 1931.  In 1932, he competed for Canada at the III Olympic Winter Games held Lake Placid, USA, placing 35th and the first Canadian to finish.
